Wow, people sure do get worked up over episodes for a show. There's no such thing as a filler episode, seeing as every episode plays into the main story arc. Just because they don't feel like being as cheesy as DBZ was with it's formula of " Big villain appears, Z squad somehow gets stronger, Big villain is defeated, next episode new big villain" should be a cause for celebration. I'm loving this build up, it's gonna be hard for Sissy-ke to top Pain.

The reason people get so worked up is because if you watch the manga, these episodes aren't there, so technically they're not part of the story arc, they're just wasting our time.
These aren;t fillers. they are crucial to the plot. take a look at the episode where sasuke gets pissed at sakura for dissing his family. we get to see how dark sasuke really was and the resolve he had even from the first Naruto season. Its kinda epic to catch these glimpses now.
